A Field Artillery Fire Finder RADAR
Operator is part of the Army's field artillery
radar team. "Fire Finder" is
the name given to highly specialized machines
that detect mortars, planes and other
objects by using radio or sound waves
to determine their location. The field
artillery Fire Finder radar operator operates
or provides leadership in the operation
of field artillery radar systems.
Requirements:
-
A minimum score of 100 in aptitude
area SC
-
A physical demands rating of heavy
(be able to lift on an occasional
basis a maximum of 100 pounds with
frequent or constant lifting of 50
pounds )

Normal color vision
-
A security clearance of SECRET
-
U.S. Citizenship
Duties:
-
Operates Fire Finder Radar and other
systems
-
Constructs fortifications like bunkers
and areas for other field artillery
-
Maintains Fire Finder Radar with
scheduled checkups
Training:
-
Nine weeks of basic training
-
11 weeks of Advanced Individual Training
at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Part of
this time is spent in a classroom
and part in the field under simulated
combat.
