14J Air Defense Tactical Operations Center Operator MM:100 GT:100
  Enlisted/Officer/Active Duty/Army Reserve  

An Air Defense Tactical Operations Center Operator is a part of the Army's field artillery team. Artillery are weapons that fire large ammunition or missiles to support infantry and tank units in combat. The air defense tactical operations center operator supervises or serves as a member of a manual early warning network (MEWN) section, team, or platoon in operations and intelligence functions.

Requirements:

  • A minimum score of 100 in aptitude area MM

  • A minimum score of 100 in aptitude area GT

  • A physical demands rating of very heavy ((be able to lift on an occasional basic over 100 pounds with frequent or constant lifting in excess of 50 pounds)

  • Color discrimination of normal color vision

  • A security clearance of SECRET

  • U.S. Citizenship

Duties:

  • Detect, track and identify aircraft

  • Broadcast early warning information

  • Perform operations and intelligence duties in Air Defense units

Training:

  • Nine weeks of basic training

  • 19 weeks of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Bliss, Texas (Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field under simulated combat conditions)
