A PATRIOT Launching Station Enhanced
Operator is part of the Army's air defense
artillery team. The Patriot missile system
teams launch advanced-technology ammunition
capable of destroying multiple air targets.
The Patriot missile system consists of
a control station, power plant, communications
relay group and as many as eight launching
stations. The PATRIOT launching station
enhanced operator/maintainer supervises
or serves as a member of a PATRIOT Air
Defense weapons system or as a member
of an Air Defense activity engaged in
operations, intelligence or liaison functions.
Requirements:

A minimum score of 100 in aptitude
area CF

A physical demands rating of moderately
heavy (be able to lift on an occasional
basis a maximum of 80 pounds with
frequent or constant lifting of 40
pounds)

Normal color vision

A security clearance of SECRET

Minimum height of 64 inches

Formal training (completion of MOS
14T course conducted under the auspices
of the U.S. Army ADA School) mandatory

Duties:
-
Placing the Patriot launching system
in the field

Supplying launching station with
Patriot missiles

Operating specific Patriot launcher
electronic systems

Performing preventative maintenance
on Patriot launching stations

Handling Patriot ammunition
Training:
-
Nine weeks of basic training
-
11 weeks of training at Fort Bliss,
Texas. (Part of this time is spent
in a classroom and part in the field
under simulated combat conditions)
