(The Army recently changed this MOS
from 68J to 15J.) The Aircraft Armament/Missile
Systems Repairer is responsible for performing
maintenance on the electrical, electronic,
mechanical and pneudraulics systems associated
with aircraft armament, missile and fire
control systems. The aircraft armament/electronic/avionics
systems repairer performs aviation unit,
intermediate and depot maintenance on
electrical, electronic, mechanical and
pneudraulics systems associated with aircraft
armament, missile, and fire control systems.
Requirements:
-
A minimum score of 95 in aptitude
area EL & 100 in the aptitude
area MM
-
A physical demands rating of very
heavy (be able to lift on an occasional
basis a maximum of 100 pounds with
frequent or constant lifting of 50
pounds)

Normal color vision
-
Formal training (completion of a
resident MOS 683 course conducted
under the auspices of the U.S. Army
Aviation School) mandatory. Waiver
for formal training criteria must
be submitted to Cdr, USAAVNC, ATTN:
ATZQ-AP, Ft Rucker, AL 36362 for approval.

Alcohol and drug abuse as defined
below will disqualify any soldier
or potential enlistee from this MOS
Duties:
-
To maintain aircraft armament/missile
systems according to technical manuals
and safety procedures
-
To perform maintenance on aircraft
weapon components, fire control units
and sighting elements
-
To perform operational checks, ammunition
loading/unloading and weapon subsystems
configuration changes for fire control
systems
-
To test, troubleshoot, and repair
test sets and diagnostic equipment
-
Replacing/repair faulty wiring
-
Solder electrical connections
-
Repair or replac instruments, such
as tachometers, temperature gauges
and altimeters
-
Reading electrical wiring diagrams
Training:
-
Nine weeks of basic training
-
30 weeks of Advanced Individual
Training (AIT) at Fort Eustis, Virginia,
including inspection and repair of
aircraft engines and equipment. (Part
of this time is spent in a classroom
and part in the field under simulated
combat conditions)
