MOS ARMY JOB TITLE Minimum ASVAB Line Scores
15P Aviation Operations Specialist ST: 95
  Enlisted/Officer/Active Duty/Army Reserve  

(The Army recently changed this MOS from 93P to 15P) A Aviation Operations Specialists helps to operate one of the largest fleets of aircraft in the world. Transport, passenger and combat airplanes and helicopters fly missions every day. Accurate flight information is necessary to keep operations safe and efficient. Aviation Operations Specialists prepare and provide flight information for air and ground crews. The aviation operations specialist schedules and dispatches tactical aircraft missions and performs associated operational administrative duties.


Requirements:

  • A minimum score of 95 in aptitude area ST

  • .A physical demands rating of medium (be able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 50 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 25 pound)

  • Normal color vision

  • A Security Clearance of SECRET

  • Be a U.S. Citizen

  • Alcohol and drug abuse as defined below will disqualify any soldier or potential enlistee from this MOS

     

Duties:

  • Process local and cross-country flight clearances

  • Plan flight schedules and air crew assignments

  • Coordinate flight plans

  • Keep flight logs on incoming and outgoing flights

  • Alert crash crews of emergencies

  • Safeguard classified materials

  • Interpret and post weather reports

  • Maintain individual flight records and functional files

Training:

  • Nine weeks of basic training

  • Six weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Rucker, Alabama, including practice in repairing electrical systems. (Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field under simulated combat conditions)
