MOS ARMY JOB TITLE Minimum ASVAB Line Scores
15S OH-58D Helicopter Repairer MM: 100
  Enlisted/Officer/Active Duty/Army Reserve  

(The Army recently restructured this MOS from 67S to 15S) It is the responsibility of the members of the aircraft repair team to ensure that all Army aircraft in a state of repair and readiness. As a OH-58D Helicopter Repairer you will be primarily responsible for supervising and performing maintenance on OH-58D helicopters (also known as 'Kiowa Warrior' helicopters). The OH-58D helicopter repairer supervises and performs maintenance on OH-58D helicopters, excluding repair of systems components.


Requirements:

  • A minimum score of 100 in aptitude area MM

  • .A physical demands rating of very heavy (be able to lift on an occasional basic over 100 pounds with frequent or constant lifting in excess of 50 pounds)

  • Normal color vision

  • Formal training (completion of a resident MOS 67R course conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army Aviation School) mandatory. Waiver fur formal training criteria must be submitted to Cdr, USAAVNC, A1TN: ATZQ-AP, Ft Rucker, AL 36362 for approval

  • Alcohol and drug abuse as defined below will disqualify any soldier or potential enlistee from this MOS

Duties:

  • Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components

  • Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems

  • Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks

  • Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections

  • Inspect and repair aircraft wings, fuselages and tail assemblies

  • Service and repair aircraft landing gear

  • Repair or replace starters, lights, batteries, wiring and other electrical parts

Training:

  • Nine weeks of basic training

  • 13 weeks, 4 days of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Eustis, Virginia, including inspection and repair of aircraft engines and equipment (Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field under simulated combat conditions)
