The HOOAH.com Community is Creating the World’s Biggest Holiday & Christmas Card to the Troops

December 15, 2006 Many of our service-members will spend this Holiday season overseas, away from their families. But a group of people is making the troops feel closer to home by sending them warm Holiday greetings online.

Community members at HOOAH.com are creating The World’s Biggest Holiday and Christmas Card to the Troops. The Card is a collection of hundreds of individual Greetings contributed by people from all across the world. Many people are creating general Greetings to the troops, while others are using the chance to send a Greeting to a specific loved one. It’s free to anyone who wants to contribute. The community’s goal is to make this the World’s Largest Christmas & Holiday Card to the Troops.

On December 22, HOOAH.com will present the card to the Sergeant Major of the Army, who will receive the card on behalf of all service-members.

Growing because of word-of-mouth support, the Card has already had over 5,000 unique visitors. The greetings that are being posted vividly demonstrate the strong ties that bind this passionate community as well as the spirit of the Holiday season.

HOOAH.com is the online community for military, family, and friends. Anyone can join for free. Once you’re a member you can create your own profile, upload pictures and videos, write a blog, submit HOOAH News articles, and communicate with other members of the military community. A dynamic social network that features unique events catering to the extended military family, it’s already being called “the military MySpace”.

For military personnel, their families, and friends, community is immensely important. So is the sense of identity that comes from belonging to this community. And no word is as beloved by this community as “HOOAH,” the battle-cry that means anything and everything except ‘no.’

HOOAH.com also supports the troops with real money. A chunk of all revenue generated by the site will help fund Army research into Soldier safety and quality of life. HOOAH.com also gives those with .mil email addresses a free upgrade to Premium account status (which means they get a theirname@hooah.com email account, and more).

Launched in October 2006, HOOAH.com already has almost 5,000 registered users. Come and check it out!

HOOAH is a battle cry.
HOOAH is a state of mind.
HOOAH is the ultimate compliment.

A Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to the most incredible fighting force that ever was, and boy are we ever grateful. Peace is not achieved by simply wishing for it.
