Iraqis try to fill U.S. boots with elite force Email This Story Print This Story

Like their American counterparts, the new Iraqi special operations forces, now numbering about 1,800, will be only a tiny percentage of the country's overall security forces. But they will take on some of the most dangerous missions, including capturing or killing insurgent and terrorist commanders, guarding Iraqi government leaders and rescuing hostages.
I hope they do well. No doubt they have a daunting job ahead of them but it works out in both our best interest and theirs. If they can manage to keep the peace on their own that means we'll be coming home all that much sooner. So again, good luck to them.
