Commanders think U.S. military forces in Iraq may not be completely withdrawn before 2016 but their presence will have the support of a majority of Iraqis.
Quoting an assessment by U.S. commanders at a spring meeting with retired military officers in Fort Carson, Colo., the Washington Times also reported that the United States tactically is getting better at detecting IEDs, or improvised explosive devices, especially using unmanned spy planes.
I've seen several experts suggest we could be in Iraq for another 10 years, but it never really clicked how long that will be until I saw the headline with the year in it. 2016 sounds a lot further away than "another 10 years" to me. Hi...My name is Samantha and my fiancee is in Ft. Benning, Ga. for basic training at the moment. He is in the Airborn Infantry division. How much of a chance will he have when he is done with basic to be sent to Iraq since they have stretched it to 2016? And when I join the Army Reserve how much is it of my chance to be sent? If someone could answer these questions for me I would gladly appreciate it. Thank you

i disagree with the top 2 the u.s wanted the name world police so thats what their going to live up to would you like it if the police in america stopped doing their job i think they should live up to their name but maybe not as long.
I think there is no need for our soldiers to stay over there any longer. The longer they stay the more lives we lose.Being over there ins't mamking the situation better just worst and agavating!Bring the home and for good!
These men and women need to come home. This nothing but a political war and a money making deal for the rich guys., just like vietnam war. Congress and our President need to send them home. The reserve surely should not go . We need them on home land.Who is protecting us here?
