Rift Over Recruiting At High Schools Email This Story Print This Story

Recently, some colleges have made moves to bar the military from recruiting on campus. Now the fight is moving to high schools. The PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) in Garfield High School, Seattle, voted 25-5 against letting the military recruit at their school. They cited that concerns regarding the well being of their children would include barring the military from recruiting, but the PTSA is supposed to avoid politics. They also said that the fact that the military was spending billions each month to fight the war in Iraq (tax payers money) all the while cutting jobs and limiting resources at public schools.
