I spent 34 plus years in the active army (enlisted and, warrant officer). I served with many officers and had many SecDef and CinC(Presidents) in my chain of command. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly in almost all of them. Secrretary of Defense Rumsfeld was by no means the worst. I strongly believe in the leadership traits of integrity, candor and loyalty in the officer corps. I look with disfavor on those who badmouth leaders after they retire. Some of these are sour grapes because they were not selected for promotion by their peers and others were or are PBC (Promoted Beyond Capability)
