Taiwan's military will fire blanks Email This Story Print This Story

This has to be the craziest story I've read in a while. The government in Taiwan buys weapons, planes and other "showy" type stuff for their army and don't by the ammunition to make them useful. This article suggests that they are saving money because they know they can't really win a fight and U.S. support would be a minimum of 5 days away with it more likely being 2 weeks for a U.S. response. They have enough ammo to last less than a day if China attacks! Previous policy has been to place emergency orders for missiles and then cancel the order should the crisis be avoided. They even bought a fire truck with no hoses! Man, do they run a tight ship when it comes to money. Read the full story.

I was a corporal serving in the ROTC(Taiwan) Army. The reason we buy weapon is because Americans push us to buy weapons from your country. We did not really want to buy it. However, the Americans just want our money so we can survive with a little of your support.
Besides that ROTC Airforce had the ability to get rid of China 50 years ago. It was the Americans cut off our fighter jet's fuel for 70% because the American wanna sell more of defending weapons like ground missles or so forth. The world could be peaceful without China. We had the chance to get rid of that communist country, but Americans just ruined it.

Oooo, a corporal in a conscription army. Big effin deal! And you know exactly jack sh%t about basic national defense, much less international arms procurement and global defense policies. No, our Air Force did not, nor will ever have the ability to "get rid of China". Occupation and control of a country as vast as China requires land forces (i.e. Army or Marines). I challenge your dumb ass to find any air force in history that single-handedly "got rid" of a country. Even the indomitable Luftwaffe of early WWII needed the German Army to take and hold ground. And since our Nationalist armed forces LOST that ground war 50 years ago and were tossed into the sea (then Taiwan) I don't think we were in any position to retake China. Get a fkin clue. Your low-rank, ignorant corporal minibrain also neglected the fact that we have other venues for munitions and weapons purchase (e.g. Mirage fighters from France). The fact that we are in such a sorry state can also be blamed on our own domestic and internationl politics, not purely on some "the US is trying to repress" us bs. Sure, the US has its own agenda in terms of Asia miliitary policy, and ya, we are likely a pawn in their sparring with China. Just don't place all the blame on somebody else when you can't take care of your own house, know what I'm sayin'? And you have GOT to be the king dingaling, biggest moron-in-the-civilized-world idiot to say something like: "The world could be peaceful without China". Quit jacking off about your pathetic corporal butt-hump days and pick up a newspaper once in a while. Read about terrorism, the Middle East, North Korea, neo-Nazis, etc, etc., then come back and try to back up that stupid azz comment. BTW, I also did my time in the ROC Army, and if you were even close to a combat posting, you would have also noticed the sorry state of our armed forces in general. It's the illiterate morons like you in our general populace and the government that have led us down this path. Peace!
