Dems Vow to Resist Iraq Troop Hike Email This Story Print This Story

Preparing to present a weary nation with his highly anticipated new war plan, President Bush faced Democrats determined to confront him over sending thousands more Americans to Iraq. Fresh troops are to be in place within three weeks.

Democrats, energized by their return to power in Congress in November elections widely viewed as an Iraq referendum, laid plans to challenge Bush's strategy even before he revealed it.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., pledged to hold a vote on the troop increase. Many Democrats are likely to oppose an increase, as are some Republicans. Pelosi spokeswoman Jennifer Crider said she said did not know when the vote would occur, or what the legislation would include.

Who is running this war, the Generals or the Democrats?

No wonder we are not winning this war, we have the politicians making the decisions, not the Generals.

Washington needs to get out of the way, and let the military fight this war like it needs to be. The military has the experience. Get it done, and get out.

Bush needs to enlarge the U.S. Marines. Everyone knows that if it absolutely has to be destroyed overnight then send the Marines. Also, the Marines are the only branch of the military under the Direct Command of the Commander in Chief, which at the present time is George W. Bush. He does not need congressional approval to use or move them. He just needs to send in the Marines and tell the faint of heart to go home, see their analyst, take a vacation, and then come back and vote themselves another pay raise.

It doesn't matter what your political party affiliation happens to be, nor does it matter how you feel about president Bush or our involvement in Iraq. As Americans, and because our leaders opted to commit our forces to the cause of a free Iraq, we MUST back the troops who are doing that job. Backing the troops means supporting and funding whatever it takes to get the job done! Pulling out, quitting, losing - those are not American options. The only way to honor the more than 3,000 who have given their lives and the 20,000 who have been injured, is to see this through the end. The gloves are off, let's get 'er done.

Because of the Dem. and not wanting to send more troops over, guess what the troops that are there have to stay longer. It is not fair for them to stay, they have seen to much for as young as most of them are. They need to be able to come home and get away from that. By keeping them over there so long they can't wait for there time to be up so they can get out. If we don't burn out the ones we have maybe they would stay in .

democrats are the reason this war has taken so long. they are cutting funds for our troops, giving them less equipment and manpower and are reducing the time our soldiers get for leave during their tour of duty. Our military is on a leash and the democrats are holding it. if they would let our military do what it is trained to do(kick ass and take names) then we would have already been done with the war. People think think the democrats are the bigger supporters of the war because their were over 50 veterans on the ballots last election and only 5 veteran republicans, the reason there was only 5:the rest re-enlisted. whos more patriotic now. the media has turned this into a political war. and what people need to realize that if you dont support this war then you dont support our troops, because our troops support us and thats why they are figting over there so we dont have to fight here. hooah
