Former minister Ayham al-Samarie has been contacting insurgent leaders for the last 5 months. Though he has not met with them, he has been communicating trying to get them to open a dialogue in hopes of ending the fighting. He said the Islamic Army in Iraq and the Mujahideen Army represented more than 50% of the resistance, and both parties were considering a temporary "truce" to give talks a chance. al-Samarie asked them to come and tell the world what it is they want, exactly. If you ask me, they'll use the truce to regroup while we lay off them. Oh, they'll probably stall and tell us what it is they want (control of Iraq, American's to leave or die etc.), but they'll use the time to regroup. But, if they truly are considering political talks and they mean it, I'm all for it. Read the full story.
