"Britain will be allowed to make contact with 15 sailors and marines seized by Iran as soon as a preliminary investigation has been completed, an Iranian official says."
"British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Tuesday his country is prepared to move to a "different phase" if negotiations fail to free those held captive."

Here's what we know:

  1. The UK, Iraq, and US claim that the captured soldiers were doing their job in Iraqi waters.
  2. The Iranians say that the soldiers were in Iranian waters.
  3. The soldiers were taken prisoner by Iran.

Here's what we don't know:

  1. Why would Iran take these UK Soldiers prisoner instead of just saying "Hey, you're in our waters...go away!"?

The whole situation has the possiblility of a very bad outcome and could lead to war with Iran. What's your take on it?

The answer to your question is simple. Iran wants trouble. Iran wants the left leaning public and its own people to rally behind Iran if GB takes the action it should take if its soldiers are not released. Then, Iran will say "this is why we are justified in developing nuclear weapons - as a defense.
