The fact that the U.S. Army has been meeting with Iraqi Rebels sounds promising, at first. I thought it was good news when I saw it. But then I read more. Defence Secretary Rumsfeld said "Well sure. But I wouldn't make too big a deal out of it. Meetings go on the whole time." So much for that, I suppose.
He also goes on about just how long this war could last, up to 12 years. I hate to hear that. The good news is that we won't be there for the whole time. At least the way Rumsefeld tells it.
"We're not going to win against the insurgency; the Iraqi people are going to win against the insurgency," he said. "That insurgency could go on for any number of years. Insurgencies tend to go on five, six, eight, 10, 12 years."
