It’s a long, long way from Martinsville to Iraq. And for the American troops who are there or are being sent there, it’s a case of living in two different worlds. Many are leaving the peaceful, sometimes ho-hum atmosphere of small-town U.S.A. and arriving in a foreign country where car, truck and roadside bombs, gunfire and sniper attacks are daily killing their fellow soldiers.
