I'm Pfc. Nieves of the Indiana National Gaurd. It really pisses me when people are born in America and are so called legal citizens and call America their home but they wont even get thier lazy asses off their couch to fight for the country they call home. Americans are the laziest people but they want the most. If you want ti so bad get up and get it. I get asked about the service every day and no matter where I'm at 9times out of 10 the person is hispanic. Several are also illegal. If that person wants to defend the country they came to in order to better their life. I say let them. If Americans dont want to serve their country then who will. lock how many Americans are in prision and continue to go back over and over again. Let illegals join and if they truely serve. then citizens they should become because the citizens we do have wont join to do it.

i messed up as a kid 15 16 years old.now im 22 and the military wont take i havent been in trouble since then me.i would really like to join the military and serve our country.i dont think the should enlist illegal recruits untill they can recruit people that want to change their lives around and serve their country from there own country.that would be me.so if some one can help i m willing to go asap

Good, now let me say that this is a country built on laws. There is a reason that the terminology is "illegal alien". They have no legal standing to be in this country. The reason the word alien is used is because they are not immigrants. I have personally been through the immigration process here in the USA and I will not sit by quietly and watch them give out citizenship like candy when so many others have done the right thing and entered this country through the immigration system. By the way there is a program for citizens of other countries to earn US citizenship through military service already in place. We don't need this law. Actually you can do something. Contact your Senator or Congressman and let them know that you think Amnesty is wrong. Before our country is brought to the same level as the countries they are fleeing. I believe in "LEGAL IMMIGRATION" but it has to be through the proper channels. If this bill is allowed then what message does that send to the people who have come here legaly and are waiting on visas? "Oh so sorry you came here legally and have done everything the right way but we are going to allow this illegal alien to obtain a visa before you can have one." That is just wrong.

December 2005,two weeks before my shipping date,immigration told me that my papers is expired. they locked me up,cant find a job ,ihad to knock on my neighbors door because my son was hungry!I have a wife and kid both are us citizens and i came in legally..i asked the army to help me out and they said they cant.I understand that,so i waited for 2 years and finally judge got tired of my case! now im in the army and my opinion is..let the illegals go to proper channel.

This “cheap labor” costs all the American people in terms of jobs (an American will work at any job – just not for substandard wages), healthcare costs (if we get rid of 12 million plus illegals then the estimated 40 million without health insurance will be reduced to 28 million CITIZENS), retirement (they will bankrupt social security), education (our idiotic government has reqired every state to educate illegal immigrant children – and many states grant them in-state tuition rates for college – my son had to fight to get in-state tuition in California after serving 4 years in the military including a year in the “sandbox” and HIS IS A US CITIZEN BORN AND RAISED IN CALIFORNIA).

They travel miles in the heat, they risk their lives crossing a border, they don't get paid enough wages, they do jobs that others won't do or are afraid to do, they live in crowed conditions among a people who speak a different language, they rarely see their families, and they face adversity all day, every day.

There are certain places where only American-born people can be and that includes the military and the White House, if you go to another country and try to join it's army the only thing that they will tell you is "Rejected!, you're not citizen of this country", and they will kick your ass back to where came from.

And I'm telling this to all of you because one of my friends was in that situation. He's a son of Mexican parents but hewas born in America; his parents' took him to Mexico when he was 15, at the age of 18 his parents' tried to enlist him to the Mexican army but surprise! Those guys didn't accept him because he wasn't Mexican-born even though his parents' were Mexicans.

I am an illegal immigrant, my parents brought me to this country wen i was 6 months of age i went to school got awsome grades never got in trouble ive been here in the U.S for 18 years. I was in high school and college at the same time. Its so frustrating when people in this country are telling you to go back to were i came from but i was raised here in the U.S. I dont see mexico as my home I was raised here i got used to this culture. I graduated High school and all my good friends got to join the military and i got left behind. they felt bad for me but they were not gonna stop their lifes and dreams for me. Right now im stuck wasting my time not being able to anything with my life i cant even go to University without paying the triple of th amount for being an illegal.

As a high school teacher and former Air woman, I agree with Pfc Nieves. I have so many intelligent immigrant undocumented students that would be an assest to the our armed forces. However, they are not allow to join because of their legal status. It's ridiculous! The lock of opportunities for these young students will send some of them through the wrong path, and they will be our enemy within. Instead of contributing to build a stronger Army, our police-makers are contributing to build stronger gangs, larger welfare- recipients dependency, and more poverty.
The truth lies in the very same fact that people that make these policies are poeple that belongs to the upper-middle class and high class, and some of them do "NOT" care about the commun poeople like you (military poeple) and I (teacher). Moreover, the benefit of the common people is the last thing in their agenda.

I, too, jumped the fence, and I was ilegal for many years, but I had the opportunity to obtain a legal status in this country, and I was able to join the USAF, and I am now a high school and university teacher, and I am in my way to a PH.D program to become Dr. Reiner.

So, "ex-ilegal now a good citizen" that's what most of these young undocumented students could be some day. Just like you said, "Be All You Can Be"

for all the ppl against illegals; i was an ilegal for about 15 yrs,not pretty!!! however after a couple of years of being in this great country, not the ppl born here; but the place itself i learned how to do my taxes and i have done it since then an am proud of it, so when some ppl refer to us as ppl who don't pay taxes many ppl like me pay their taxes,and in all this yrs i haven't received anything for free and i have a great life i am a truck driver i work for exxon mobil i make lots of money (90k or 100k ),at year for a guy who was not born here thats fucking pretty good, don't ya think lazy bitches!!! but i work 70 hours at week six some times even 7days at week i have no criminal record (THANK GOD), and i don't hate anybody, and i guess what am trying to say is that when we come to usa we come for a reason and that is to live better or at least to have the chance to live, i used the proper channel and the right system to become legal, but if the president of the USA and some other ppl wants to offer some kinda of program am not agains it, why not let this other ppl become residents if thats what they want why not am not going to suffer just because it took me fucking 20 yrs to became legal, it's not the ilegals fold(hope i spelled that right)that it took me fucking long time its the fucking sistem, thanks glace for being human, some people need to remember that many years ago this great land was indians territory and the ppl that today own this land back in those days were called illegals by the Indians, wana have the facts go to school and read some history and when i say go to school i mean go there and not only sit like many kids this days, go! study hard and make every day count, don't just pass grades by aging, and read history, sorry about my english(not my language) ha ha ha

My opinion it's that the all or any person that wanna to serve this country is fight for us, worth and have the right for citizenship or some legal right to stay in here, most the illegal are fit for service, they work every that, are not fat, and have the will to defend us, let's see in the other part, most of the our so call americans are too fat, they hate to work imagine fight.
American is well known for be the country of opportunity, any way our background is completely immigrant based, not matter if was illegal or legal immigration.
If you wanna keep our freedom , we should be more open mind, if we put a least 20% of our illegals to fight for us, we don't needed to enforce the draft, each illegal who go fight on our forces, is one less us born citizen to be draft against his will.

I am an illegal immigrant, I came to the U S when I was 10 I'm 25 now and I finished my school, I got into college and other than coming into the U S illegaly I have not broken another law. I did'nt break the law because I wanted to. I was brought by Mom and I dont blame her for it she was looking for a better future for my sister and me. She has been working since we got here and I'm really mad that people keep saying that we dont pay taxes for your information every time she got a check there are a couple of lines that all americans see and thats the money that they take off for Tax, Federal Tax, and L & I, so we do pay taxes and most illegals dont do a tax return so the money that they get taken off who nows where it goes. So if they would let illegals join the army I would go even if I did'nt get my papers just because this country has done so much for my family and I would defend this country like my own.

Sorry I forgot to say something. I'm very proud of my mom for everything she did, she came alone with her kids, she has been working if fields, yards, anything to support my sister and I. She has worked really hard. Any of the people that think that illegals should not get papers here is something to think about. If you did'nt have money to feed your family, if your family was always hungry, if you could not afford to apply for legal residence, or if you could not wait years so you could go into another country, what would you do? would you tell your little kids, or your sick mother, sorry we have to wait for you to starve to death or for you mom to die to go in legaly. See people dont come to the U S thinking lets take there jobs, lets take there money, we dont come to take anything all people are thinking its I want to eat. I want to survive. I want my family to be o.k. Thats all so have a little more heart and put yourself in our shoes.

I am in this country legal on a US visa and would like to serve in the US military but was told by the recruiters I can't because i am a visitor. I am total committed to fight and to risk my life not just for this grate nation, but for the other nations out there whose freedom is threatened by those out to make the world a place of terror. Its just sad that I can't fulfill my duties to protect, preserve and maintain peace and stability as a lawful citizen of this world.
