City Pulls Down Yellow Ribbons Email This Story Print This Story

Yellow ribbons have been everywhere in South Portland for four months, wrapped around trees and stapled to utility poles. They are tributes to U.S. troops, especially two soldiers from this city who died in Iraq in March.

In America we have the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the right to keep and bear arms, the right to peaceful assembly, but not the right to hang a yellow ribbon around a light pole to show that we support the brave men and women fighting for us. What do you think?
