Army investigators have concluded that the private whose dispatches for the New Republic accused his fellow soldiers of petty cruelties in Iraq was not telling the truth.
You have to question the motives of someone who so easily turns their brothers in arms into villains. It would be bad enough if it were true. What do you call someone who betrays you with lies?

Not only did this guy lie about what was going on but he is also married to a reporter at the magazine that was publishing his articles. Sounds a little fishy to me. If I were a member of his squad I think he would be getting a little blanket party. You are supposed to watch you fellow soldiers back... not put a knife in it.
Couple points to ponder:
These are the same investigators who denied the football hero was fragged (turns out he was)
They have not charged the Pvt with anything he had printed in the media (that is odd since they punished soldiers for just having private blogs)
All the military sources are anonymous after the investigation is over (usually the trumpet is blowing)
Whether the accounts are true or not, which we will never know, the behavior pattern on both sides is suspect. Reminds me of the stuff said and not said after Just Cause and Desert Storm.
