Funeral Protester Desecrates Flag Email This Story Print This Story

Nebraska's law to protect the American flag is unconstitutional, says a legal challenge filed for a Kansas woman. Shirley Phelps-Roper has been charged with letting her 10-year-old son, Jonah, stomp on an American flag outside a Bellevue soldier's funeral in June.

It doesn't matter what your political or moral agenda is, there is absolutely no excuse for disrupting a soldier's funeral. The prosecutor in this case should ask for the maximum punishment allowed by law for any charge they can bring against this person. What do you think?

Absolutely, they should get the maximum punishment. The soldier that died, died to protect US and was fighting so that WE can continue to have freedom in America. It is wrong to stomp on an american flag any day and especially at a funeral of a man that gave his life for us.

I can't believe that someone could be that cold and heartless. No matter what their views where, they should not have interrupted this man's funeral. He gave his life so that they could have the freedom to be disrespetful. If my husband died in Iraq and that happened to me I probably would have lost my temper.

Due to the fact that my son is serving in Iraq, these idiots have the freedom to do such awful things. These people don't matter -- the greater reason being that these people have the FREEDOM to do this -- only in America-- not pre-war Iraq, Iran, or the other nations. We are making a difference in Iraq and elsewhere -- no matter what the media says. God Bless America!!
