I think we need a one step program for the U.S. military. They should step their raping, murdering, torturing asses out of Iraq and Afghanistan. It's quite simple. Education is right. The unrest in the middle east began with the institution of Israel. They have basically engaged in apartheid against the Palestinian people, which is generally very offensive not only in the middle east, but to those interested peace and justice and human rights. On top of that the Israeli lobby is so strong in the U.S. that foreign policy decisions are basically for the benefit of Israel, and making a fool out of the average small-town American with the argument "they want to kill us because of our freedom." After all, the Nazis made regular people believe genocide was okay. Now the regular barely educated small-town American knows nothing about Islam, nothing about middle east politics, but they know they want to kill kill kill the muslims. Sadaam didn't like Israel, so America invaded. Well Bush had other agendas namely oil. Iraq has 10% of the world's oil reserves AKA a crapload of oil. As long as Israel does not abide by the UN resolutions concerning its borders (specifically UN Res 242), and the persecution on innocent Palestinians who have their homes and lands invaded continues, of course the reasonable person will see U.S. foreign policy as biased and unfair. On top of that the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and you've got a regular war machine. And nobody likes a war machine.

The way the word "jihad" is used is very offensive. Jihad means a personal struggle to do the right thing. The way it is equated with alcohol (which muslims are forbidden), drugs (which muslims are forbidden), sex (which muslims are forbidden outside of marriage), jihad has no place in this context. The middle east has had tensions in the past, but so has every other region in the world at one time or another. Presently, the middle east is experiencing the most turmoil because of the persecution and apartheid against the Palestinians, which gave rise to September 11, which prompted the U.S. to invade and destroy two countries. And this when the countries' governments had nothing to do with 911. If you want to take a look at say Europe, it has experienced turmoil, war and bloodsheed (you recall WWI and WWII) since the beginning of ages. So your statement implying tension is only in the mid east is misguided. Fact 3. Yes Iraq was invaded because of a lie. Iraq was saying come in and inspect and the inspectors found nothing. If you looked at Bush's arguments, they were so baseless, I was shocked to see that some people bought it. First he argued WMD (false), then ties to 911 (false), than "liberating" the people (Abu Ghraib showed otherwise, 2.2 million in the desert show otherwise, 600,000 dead show otherwise, a civil war shows otherwise). Fact 4: You are inciting hate against a religion of over a billion people. Do you know what the major beliefs of Islam are? Do you know what is in their book? Do you know the religion's ties to the other two Abrahamic religions (Christianity and Judaism)? Do you know what the religion's attitude is towards other religions? I suspect you do not. However, I will answer the last question. It is of tolerance where Christians are taught all non-Christians will go to hell and the Jewish book of laws (The Thalmud) has actually stated that it is not a sin to kill a non-Jew, particularly a Christian. In the Islamic book, respect is encouaged towards different religions. So when you talk about islam not preaching tolerance, it is a baseless statement, because right now it is muslims who are suffering the greatest and unfortunately it is at our hands. So we are the ones who are not tolerant. Basically John, your "facts" are groundless with not an iota of evidence to support.
