The U.S. Army has thrown out the conviction of the only officer court-martialed in the Abu Ghraib scandal, bringing an end to the four-year investigation and drawing complaints from human rights activists of a Pentagon whitewash.
There seems to be a lynch mob attitude when it comes to military scandals. Many want a witch hunt that goes all the way up the chain of command. In this case several convictions have been handed out and the sentences have been carried out. This man's crime seems to have been not shutting his mouth when ordered to do so. Should we try to hold people responsible for the actions of others they don't have direct control over?
