The flow of blood may be ebbing, but the flood of money into the Iraq war is steadily rising, new analyses show. In 2008, its sixth year, the war will cost approximately $12 billion a month, triple the "burn" rate of its earliest years, Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph E. Stiglitz and co-author Linda J. Bilmes report in a new book.
Interesting claim though it may be, it never states how they are making their calculations. How much does the military cost even with out a war? How much of the machinery and equipment used in Iraq would have needed to be replaced anyway. How much would it cost for there to be civil war in Iraq? How much of the money calculated in this equation is for defense spending that has nothing to do with the war but is lumped in anyway? So how much is the war in Iraq really costing us?

Exactly! How much does it cost to run the military during peace time? Is this cost INCLUDED in the $12 billion? It should not be.
Also, where is the $12 billion going? Guess where...to U.S. companies, who hire U.S. citizens, who send the money home here, so their families can have a good life, etc..... Sounds like a federal jobs program... At least it is better than Workfare/Welfare.
there are million of homeless kids living in homeless shleters and or on the streets with no food or clean water!! why cant we put one month of that 12 billion dollers and make homes or helth care for these children out here in the united states!!! maybe we should worry about are country instead of other countries that is not benifiting us americans one bit eat that shit bush
I agree Bush is doing A horrible job but all he is doing is what he thinks is right and that is what his job consits of. Also i would like to see you do a better job. GO ARMY HOOAH
The truth is Bush doesn't give a shit about this country. Why else is this country going into a severe recession? Why else do 50 MILLION americans not have healthcare.
A woman on television told Bush that she works 3 jobs. And his response was a snicker and a "that's the American way". This coming from someone who has abused alcohol and cocaine his whole life and hasn't lifted a finger to do any work except create a mess for everyone else.
We will pay for Bush's sins. What goes around comes around. We will pay for what we did to Iraq, what we did to our own people. There is no doubt the time is coming.
The $12 billion is for Iraq and Afghanistan. It is "off budget" so doesn't get calculated in the great spending plan of Bush and congress. Bush's war and the whole economic collapse is the result of neo-cons running in rabid circles foaming about how everything is wonderful except the people who critisize them. Interesting how they use the war to justify their corrupt life style and payoffs to Haliburton and KBR to provide crap to our (not their) military.
