College is the obvious route for some, but 57 graduates from the Erie and Millcreek school districts plan on or already have enlisted in the U.S. armed forces. While the military offers plenty of incentives, recruiters and students say that supporting the country is the goal of most students who enlist.
What a novel idea. Enlisting in the armed forces to protect and serve a country that you love. Does this archaic thinking have any place in modern society. Actually yes, according to many students enlisting during or right after high school. These students realize that they may be called on to go to Iraq or Afghanistan, but to them it is part of the bigger picture. Once they have entered the military they do realize that what they do is part of a greater whole which is to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
