A divided Supreme Court ruled Thursday that foreign terrorism suspects held at Guantanamo Bay have rights under the Constitution to challenge their detention in U.S. civilian courts. The justices, in a 5-4 ruling, handed the Bush administration its third setback at the high court since 2004 over its treatment of prisoners being held indefinitely and without charges at the U.S. naval base in Cuba.
Known terrorist suspects which we have captured, many of whom were captured actively fighting U.S. forces, are now able to appeal sentences to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. At least it is not the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is know for it's far left leaning decisions. It makes no sense for a country to provide enemy combatants the same rights and comforts afforded to its citizens whom the combatants were trying to kill. Has the Supreme Court gone mad?
