Under a special test program, the Army is now treating home school graduates as educational Tier I, the same educational category as high school diploma-holders.
The Army now offers home school graduates who qualify the same enlistment incentives as traditional high school graduates, including cash bonuses up to $20,000 for enlistments of three or more years and the Army College Fund, which provides up to $70,000 for college.
With more and more kids being home schooled the Army is getting wise to this untapped market. They will use a test program to see how things turn out, but I can imagine with the high recruiting goal for the year that we'll see this program get fleshed out and probably more like it as well.

I am a high school graduate. I think the Army and other places should treat home schoolers the same as public schoolers. Good going Army!
I am a homeschooler in my junior year. Homeschoolers, as a rule, excel academically above their public schooled counter-parts, taking more courses and excelling in all they do. Their education is custom-tailored to help their weak spots and ensure that they understand all that they study. Their understanding of history is unparalelled by any highschool. They better understand the reasons, stakes, and lessons of war. A higher percentage of homeschoolers are patriotic enough to fight and put their life on the line. Their character training makes it more likely that they will be willing to put their life on the line for others. This is a decision long overdue. This decision opens the doors to homeschoolers who want to fight. I know I will.
