In small steps and without fanfare, the U.S. Army is adapting its training to "the war of the flea," the type of hit-and-run insurgency that is gripping Iraq, where more than 2,000 American military personnel have been killed.

"Now, there is counterinsurgency (instruction) at every level, from the warrior leader course (for front-line sergeants) through to the war college," said Brig. Gen. Volney Warner, deputy commandant of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
Most modern warfare has been these types of battles. Sure, the "Cold War" held the threat of Nuclear war, but it seems most battles since Vietnam were these "hit and run" type battles. Why would the government reduce training for that in the first place. It's the most common tactic around the globe. Regardless, I'm just glad to see we are stepping up our training programs with regards to terrorist tactics.

It's a lot to take on and President Bush was the man for the job. I don't think the other guy would have had the heart to fight back. I'm thankful for all our service people as well as proud of my President.
