Obama Says To Support War Vets Email This Story Print This Story

President Barack Obama says when it comes to making sure returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan have the support they need, government can’t do the job alone. He says communities and churches need to reach out to veterans and celebrate their return, and that businesses need to make jobs available to them.
Obama noted that, in many cases, veterans returning from Vietnam weren’t treated well. He called that “inexcusable.

President Obama hit the nail on the head when he said "communities and churches need to reach out to veterans and celebrate their return." This is also true of many other things that government is doing but this is about the veterans. Obama should get his hordes of grassroots workers to get out there and thank vets personally. Maybe once they got to know the vets their attitudes about the military would change. The President also spoke of the treatment of Vietnam veterans and many of them were mistreated and maligned by members of today's congress maybe they should apologize for their actions. Should any standing member of government have to apologize for their mistreatment, misrepresentation, and or acts against the troops in the Vietnam or Iraq war?

Too bad he didn't support them when he was a senator. Now that he is president we are just supposed to forget everything that he said? Oh and now he want to cut the defense budget. In the middle of 2 wars.
