A Kansas City federal judge today barred the city of Gladstone from enforcing an ordinance that prohibits protests at soldiers’ funerals. Shirley L. Phelps-Roper of Topeka’s Westboro Baptist Church asked for the order pending a decision on whether the city’s ordinance is constitutional. The same judge also is considering whether a similar Missouri law is constitutional. Westboro church members have drawn harsh criticism across the country for picketing at funerals of servicemen and servicewomen. They believe that God is punishing America for tolerating homosexuality, abortion and divorce and have complained that laws banning funeral pickets violate their freedom of speech.
What about the right to privacy of the family of the fallen soldier? Why should this fringe groups rights supersede the rights of the fallen soldiers family? How can we allow a judge to sit there and allow this with out consideration for the families of those that served their country? What should be done about this group?

Isn't it written in the book they read that they should judge, least they be judged the same way...
Do these picketers really think that a funeral is the right time and place for this, these must be some sick people.
There it is again - the minority being kowtowed to by the majority. Most funerals are religious services. Would the judge allow someone to interrupt a church service or mass with a bunch of screaching & yelling by a vocal handful? I think not. A whole bunch of veterans should go to Westboro Baptist Church & protest outside during their Sunday Services (or don't the radical facist-Muslims worship on Fridays?) Same-same in my way of thinking.
