Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano apologized to veterans after a report issued by her department said troops returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were at risk for being recruited by right-wing extremists. "To the extent veterans read it as an accusation ... an apology is owed," she said during an on-air interview on FOX News Thursday, a day after veterans' groups and members of Congress blasted her for the report, which they said libeled members of the armed forces. "This was an assessment, not an accusation," Napolitano continued. "It was limited to extremists those who seek to commit violence within the United States. And all this was meant to do was to give law enforcement what we call 'situational awareness.'" "The last thing I want to do is offend or castigate all veterans. To the contrary, let's meet and clear the air," she said.
After this brilliant display of diplomacy and outright political bias, Napolitano should be asked to find a different employer. She has managed to insult every Veteran in the United States of America. Her statement wasn't even a real apology it was one of those "I'm sorry if you were to dumb to understand what I meant" statements. The problem is veterans knew exactly what she meant, she put it down on paper. There was no misinterpretation. BTW where did Sec. Napolitano get the experience to effectively run the Department of Homeland Security? She is a lawyer who has never served in the United States Military or other intelligence or defense position. Sec. Napolitano's obvious political bias and disregard for the service that veterans have given this country should result in her relocation to Arizona. Should Sec. I don't see a reason to boot her out yet, almost every politician says something dumb sooner or later. If it continues, then I would say it's time for a change.

She's not a politician, she's appointed by one. Her job, her ONLY job is to identify people who threaten the US. The time & effort spent in IDing we filthy, knuckledragging terrorists who call ourselves veterans could have been spent on some other project. There is no excuse for that & none should be tolerated by the millions who have defended our nation. I felt that my 27 years in the military was being thrown out with the garbage.
I work for DHS... my resignation was already queued for print before the "apology" and still sits on my desk even after higher ups begged me to give ol'Janet another chance. I know what she meant, I have generated some of the reports, but they delivery was a perfect example of ignorance from someone who has never marched in our boots. She is appointed but she was appointed because of her great work of dealing with Mexican illegals while state governor. <wink> Oh, wait, I remember another Janet from years ago... little incident in another border state...
