My sister is in Fort Jackson and she just sent my mom a letter asking me to bake her some cookies, and that she can only receive them if I bake enough for her entire PLT. Is this true? I searched everywhere and it says no food may be sent. Help Please?

my husband also went to fort jackson. if they get the cookies depend on there drill sargents. they do not have to let them have them, but they can if they want to. my husband requested we send him his drill sargent favorite cookies because he's a bit of a smart ***. the sargent made him give everyone in his platoon one and then my husband got the rest. they seems to be a bit nicer about stuff the longer your there. but my husband also says the drill sargents sometimes ate the cookies in front of whoever recieved them. it probably depents on if they like your sister. tell you sister thanks :)

Its part of the training, one for all and all for one.... sewn into it is making things difficult so the recruits gel as a team, and learn about unit cohesion..... Your sister would be grateful for the cookies, but since she has asked for enought for the platoon, she obviously let it slip you have the secret to nice cookies.... I would bake enough if I was you.... any left send them my way...:D Next time she is on leave, she would take em back with her.... Its highly unlightly if you are living local (ie. in the US) that food would be taken from her... Just dont let her instructors see the food.... they normally have the appatites of bears, so the cookies wouldnt last long...

Thanks guys! I appreciate the help. Yeah, I'm a stay at home mom and I love to bake, cookies, cakes, pies, etc. She's just got to boot camp? basic training? I'm not familiar with Army terms yet. She asked for Snickers cookies so I found the recipe bought all the stuff then realized she may not be able to receive cookies! I just had to double check and I'm going to send plenty for everyone. Anyone know how many people to each Platoon?

Exo1 - I'd love to send you cookies but I haven't quite figured out how to mail cookies to ensure their safety. Maybe I should test them out on an unsuspecting friend before I mail them to my sister, wouldn't want to embarrass her in front of her Platoon. ;)

Haha!!.... dont worry about it..... I shall buy some chocolate chip cookies in your honour!!...:D Would test them out on a friend first..... hmmm or maybe the cookie monster..... oh right, you cant!!... cos I am here... :p

There is normally between 30/40 soldiers in a platoon.... training platoons tend to be bigger at around 40 or so....

Thanks for all the info Exo1. You're a cookie monster eh? So that explains how you can eat the store bought stuff. My fav cookies are anything freshly baked in my oven ;)

Ok, so now all I have to do is find a container and bake & ship them...

So, Exo1 are you Army or family/friend of the Army? Other than being a cookie monster that is.

And YAY! I found a container that will hold bunches of cookies, now to just bake & ship. One step at a time. On a side note I made some delicious peanut butter w/chocolate chips cookies today! YUMMM!

Congats to your sister!!.. Job well done.... From what I understand from the US system, you get assigned to an AIT course normally in Ft Jackson or Benning... depending on your MOS... What is your sisters MOS?.... I most likely dont know whats next but Professor Nightflyer should be able to help out....

Best Regards,

The Cookie Monster!!...:p

Thanks again for your information Exo1. I'll try to call her and ask about her MOS. As I've mentioned before I know nothing of the Army or how it works. I'm learning though :)
