my husband is at Ft. lenorwood in Missouri. he has been there since the 1st of november. I was wondering if anyone knew when he is going to start basic. Or when I can start writing him back. And can they call home every sunday or is that after a couple of weeks into basic.

you start basic when you get off the bus at the camp you get sent to, i don't know about the phone call part though, but he should be allowed to write whenever

My husband is now in AIT.......but he went basic in Fort Jackson.....and first they go to reception. How long they stay there just depends on the in-prossessing. Anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. While they are in reception they can write you but you can not write them back until they send you there address, which should be before they leave reception. Calls however just vary. Sometimes they will call every week and sometimes it will be two or three weeks. Usually it is on Sundays though. From what I understand besides church they never just get time to do nothing. Even on their off time they are cleaning their boots or washing thier clothes, ect. They stay busy. Hope I was of some help.

My fiance' went there in Aug. Now he is there for AIT and will be coming home soon. They dont start basic right away. After a few days of being there they will. I think it was maybe a week before we started writing both ways and 3 months when we could start talking every day/night. I wish we could find out more of whats going on but they dont say all that much.

You start basic whenever they have a full troop of trainees finished with inprocessing. That can take as long as a couple of months. They do get to rest a little on sundays go to church but until the ait portion no they dont get to just get to go hang out and play pool. They are escorted to the services of their religious preference and back to the barracks.
