I can tell you at the balls the rangers dress up wear their spurs and its liek going out to a black tie affair. Dancing music things like that. My buddy just got out of the airborne ranger hes out of the army now but i can ask him what the leadership training is all about.

Hey thanks for the reply! So is it like an actual ball dance? For some reason I don't see the rangers having a ball, but it sounds like a cool thing! And ya, if you don't mind asking your buddy about the leadership training thing, I would appreciate it. My really good friend is an Airborne Ranger in Afghanistan right now and he is going to leadership training once he gets back. He has told me that its going to be tough but I was just wondering what it is all about. Any information will be helpful! Thanks!

The Ranger Ball is the annual gathering of Rangers dressed up in their class As. It's like the "Prom" for Rangers, except it's not as wholesome. For most, it is a means of catching up with friends, seeing what other Rangers have been doing in their Ranger careers, getting drunk, participating in the Hog Contest, and causing general mayhem.
As for this leadership school, he could be talking about PLDC or he could be talking about Ranger School. The latter is tough, and long .. the former isn't.
It is not a good idea to annouce where your friend is deployed. The 75th Ranger Regiment is very small and OPSEC is of the utmost importance.
