Hey guys,

I'm 31 and i'm a computer helpdesk technician at fort benning. Now my wife is in a reserv unit and they would like to have me on board. actl. they want me really bad because they like me and they don't have one single person taking care of the computer systems there.

The mastersergant want me to join and he want to help me aas mcuh as he can. I explained that my only concern is that I don't want to be deployed because i went through this when my wife got deployed to Iraq in 2005-2006 and it was no fun...at all

He explained that he will get a sec. person for the IT area and if someone has to go then he will make sure that the other person will go and not me. he said something about getting me as a warrant officer.
Also one of my firends is a captain there and he try to help me with everything also. I've met these guys only one time and they having big computer issues but noone there to help or work on the systems.

now my question is this.
- what is the path an time line to become a warrant officer
- can a MSGT and a Captain help me to speed thing up or are they just sugar coating?
- I'm already in the IT field and would a Army reserve warrant officer in the IT field helps me in my computer carrier in the civilian life?
- how many month is basic training, AIT class and what else comes on me? What is actl. AIT ??

I need lots of information in case if I join... so please respond with lots of info :) thanks

As per my location, Im Ex Irish Army, but I can tell you that BCT and AIT will be tough enough, but you can get through it if you want to be in the Army.... it takes motivation to do it, so if youre not into it dont do it... if you are!!.. Cool go for it... In terms of toughness, dont know enough about reserve US training... Tacky will know more...
