I just turned 17 and will be obtaining my GED soon and have my sights set on joining the ARMY. but there is a very bad past that might keep me from joining. I have been charged for 2 possesions of marijuana is there a chanve that I could join or would they decline me right away?

hey im not sure about the marijuana possesion but my husband had to have his diploma before they would let him join, i dont think you can join with just a ged.

Hey as far as with the diploma situation, I think it depends on your score on your asvab, and if you have some college credits too. I have my ged, scored high on the asvab, and had some college, but your recruiter should tell you. So i dont think that will hold you back, also as far as the charges, they can get special waivers for that, especially if you are what they consider to be a "quality applicant". So when you go to take you asvab, try to do your best, it will make you worth the time for them to get your waiver.
