My fiance just went into basic training. He's having a really hard time and I wanted to send him a care package... am I allowed to do that? Another question... he is going to Maryland for AIT and the recruiter told us that we could live together off base.. well after talking to a few people that have been through all of this, it seems like this recruiter lied to me... whats the deal here can we live together or not? I don't know I just want to know everything! any and all information you can give me.. like about phone calls (how many and when) and when can I finally send him my letters?! all of this information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Phonecalls: vary on company and how much trouble they are in. My wife just finished and I got one phonecall the entire time.
Secondly your bf will go directly to AIT the same day as graduation. The training company needs to get them their to complete their orders.

I don't know much else as my wife is a hold over waiting security clearence (credit issues) She and I both have been told that in long MOS (longer than 20 weeks) pvt's are allowed to move off base after 11 weeks and usually get either on-post or off-post passes b4 then.

I wish I had more answers but as I'm in a similar boat I can not tell you anything other than what I know.

when i went to basic in 01 we got one phone call to let family/wifes know we was there and ok and after that it was abt 3 weeks b4 we got another phone call uhmm then i think it was 1 time a week for 5 min so ur calls will be coming as for the move and livin with him i think it depends on his mos like if hes 11b or 19d i doubt it but if hes goin somewhere else for ait that kinda meeans he aint combat or a grunt i had my basic and ait in the same place ft knox and we stayed in teh same barracks and wasnt allowed off post till like the last few weeks but phone calls will come more n more often as he gets done with his training
