The basic training is the same. the only time that you will be reminded that you are a reservist is at meal times. This can be good. the headcount will do the reservists and national guards first if there are only a few in the company.
Take nothing with you that you aren't able to keep track of. You will issued everything you need to wear. you will get a pay advance and you will be able to buy anything else you need at the px.
One of the very first things you will get issued is underwear and socks. you get fed soon after. then the fun starts. people will be handing you things left and right. make sure you get what you sign for. you will sit thru all sorts of briefings and in processing procedures. just pay attention. learn your rank structure, and general orders before you leave. ask for a "smart book" from your recruiter.

hi my name is kari and i am leaving out for bct on the 24 also. and i am a single mom. so its going to be heard, but i think this is what my heart wants me to do. that book does help and thanks for the incourgement. i have been running all my life and i have ran marathons before so im not worried about the running. im just worrying about the gas chamber. my exhusband was in the army and he loved it. so when we go devorced i decided to join. anyways thanks.

The gas chamber is no big deal. You get a small dose of CS gas. It will effect people differently, me, it made my eyes water and nose run some. I've seen people puke.
It will make a believer out you and your protective mask.
Read you smart book! Good luck

Yeah, DH said it wasn't bad - he didn't throw up ... he just was annoyed they made them do it after lunch... and he said he would not have chosen to eat salisbury steak. ROFL

gas chamber isn't bad. If they let the men, don't shave that day. its not meant to help you get acclimated to CS gas. ya can't really do that, its meant to show you the effectiveness of yoru mask and make ya a believer in how well it works. i like the gas chamber in the winter, clears out your sinuses.
