Im trying to get some information for my cousin. My cousin recently took the asva test and scored in the high 60's. He graduated from high school and is a all around good guy. He is 22yrs old now but when he had just turned 18 he commited a crime. He went to jail for 3months and now he has an adult record for a theft related crime. Its been almost 5yrs since then and he has done nothing since just like there was nothing before. I heard that you can still enlist in the military as long as you dont have any violent or drug related crimes. There's just some kind of waiver he would have to get. If anyone here has any info on this subject please let me know. If possible sent me an email at Horrice32@yahoo.com or simply reply to this post. Thanx. Jovonn

yes he will have to get a waiver, and probably meet with some higher ups. But I had some similar issues, and now I am leaving in april. Its good that he scored high on the asvab, cause that is also what helped me as well. So he should have a pretty good chance ;)

Past criminal activities might be able to be waivered, with the exception of a felony.

This is incorrect, Im about to get a felony DUI waived for enlistment in the reserves. I scored a 90 on my asvab, so perhaps that helped.
