DH is out of pocket and I am trying to find information for him to start school when we hit our station. How does this work? Do you initially pay and the gov. remb at end of semester? OR does the bill go directly to the gov? Does he need to get permission to take classes? My understanding was that the GI Bill is to use after you are out...If you go while in - do they dip into the GI Bill?

Anyone have recent experience with this whole mess? Thanks!

GoArmyEd (https://www.earmyu.com/public/public_money_for_college-tuition_assistance.aspx) has most of the info you need. eArmyU is a pretty good deal, especially if he's infantry and will be in the field often. As long as you're active duty tuition assistance pays 100% of the tuition (there is a cap), and he will need approval from his chain-of-command--that helps to minimize school / training conflicts.
