View Full Version : 40 Physical???
OK I have been going round and round trying to join for the last couple of months. I turn 40 on the 27th of this month. I know I'll have to take the 40 physical, but now I get a call tonight from my 'new' recruiter ( they guys I started with were full of crap!) anyway he tells that the Army no longer pays for the Pap Smear or Mammogram which they require and I need to get that done before I can go to MEPS. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but that's BS if the Army requires it and I'm going to have to take 3 days off work anyway they should pay for it. I have no insurance or the money for all this. I feel if the Army foots the bill for anything the 'men' are required...they should do the same for the women. My daughter who is in the Air Force had a Pap Smear and pelvic exam when she went to MEPS. Anyway I'm really starting to get discouraged because of all the 'CRAP' I am having to deal with. I just want to serve, damn how hard is that. HELP

Every branch has their problems. You'll always run into bits of "crap". I am sure someone will be able to fill you in on your questions. Hang in there.

Here in Maine there are a number of programs for women our age who have no insurance coverage/or minimum insurance coverage for pap smears and mammograms.
If you have a regular PCP I would recommend calling the office and asking the Nurse/Assistant if they can help point you in the direction for these services.
My only suggestion is to communicate with your recruiter and see if there is anything he/she can do to help you financially.
Best Wishes to you.
