Hi,

Seeing as I am only an army wife, and have never been through boot camp myself, I can't offer you a whole lot of help. But what I can tell you is this... It's basic training. NOT boot camp. My husband got sooooo mad every time I even said the words! He'd yell, "IT'S BASIC, NOT BOOT CAMP" Apparently, boot camp is for the marines, and basic training is for the army, so I wouldn't confuse the two. :) I know that's not a huge help, but it really irritated him, so I thought it may be useful for you to know. Good luck!

I just returned from WTC at Ft. Knox and I may have some advice. I am prior service Air Force and decided to join the guard. WTC is army boot camp for prior service personnel. It was harder than Air Force basic and it wasn't as long. They give prior service personnel 4 weeks to what new recruits have to do in 9 weeks. Ft. Jackson is known as Ft. Relaxin' to us permanent party so you won't have much to worry about. However, the key to not getting "SMOKED" in basic is working as a "TEAM". Evemn the smallest thing like falling in or a little bit of dust on a wall locker. Get everything accomplisked quickly and detailed and you won't have to worry. People usually get smoked for stupid things. Just play the game and don't be disrespectful. Adhere to the Army Values and have fun..That's all I can say for now but feel free to e-mail me..I have an open-door policy...
