okay, by now i think most of you know that i work in a animal hospital. i have been here for more then 3 years and have never been bit. (that time by the bird doesnt count because it was my own fault for messing with it, but it did call me a *****)

anyway, yesterday a sheltie dog got dropped off in the morning because it had attacked a rott. and lost, badly. we shave her and there was puncture wounds all over her body. we took x-rays and they showed damage on the inside so she had to have surgery to repair those. i went to her cage and picked her up. now, if a injured dog is going to bite this is the time because they are being moved and its very uncomfortable. i stood up and took a step with her and she reached her head around behind her body and bit me on my nose! it hurt realy bad, and i feel realy bad about it, but i dropped the dog. :( i turned to the nurse and asked if it was bad and her eyes got realy big and she told me to go the the bathroom. turns out i had to go to the doctor. i called my sister to tell her i got bit and would be sending the kids to her house after school and she asked if i still had a nose left. yes i still have a nose.

so im at the doctor and im holding a napkin with a piece of ice on my nose, which by this point i cant feel. the nurse notices what she thought was a piece of string hanging from my nose and pulls it. i jump and yell and tell her that's my nose! basicly im there for 3 hours to get a piece of my nose pulled off, cleaned up, an bandage and a tetnis shot, which realy hurts today.

i go back to work and file paperwork, go get my kids and go to basketball practice. man did i look hot:eek: lol. then i go pick up my husband, he doesnt know what happened, and he laughs at me.

now this weekend is the FRG holiday party for the soldiers and we are suppost to get family picks taken. :( this will be a great one for the wall!

and oh ya, at basketball practice, Paige hit me in the nose, she's evil that one.

today my nose is red, huge, and hurts realy bad. im suppost to let the bandage fall off on its own, but i think i may remove it before the party!!!

OMG! I am actually at a loss for words. I hope it gets better fast! It's supposed to be one of the kids with the skinned nose or black eye in a family pic, not the mom! It's not even like you can put one of the kids in front of you to hide it. One of my favorite family pics, my 4 year old had his baseball cap covering his face. Masks??? If you leave the bandaid on, could you use a little cover up? Does the photographer do touch ups? It'll be OK, just smile.

lol, its one of those surgical bandages that shrivel up and fall of, so i think it might look like a giant booger on my face. the picks are coming from a guy volunteering his time and work for the soldiers, so i bet touchup's with not come in the package.

my favorite pick of my kids is one i took them to walmart for just to be thereselves. i made them dress desent, but not dressed up. my oldest son has a mischievous look on his face, my middle child is sporting his mohawk with a very simular look of his brother, and my daughter has that im a devil with a halo look. i love it!

Sounds like you'll need about a quart of makeup! You can always get your screen name changed to "The Nose".

I've got a Siberian Husky who developed epilepsy. When she had a bunch of seizures in a row we took her to a nearby animal emergency hospital. My son was home on leave at the time & went with me. The dog, Misty, was real surley after they took her in the examination room so they asked us to put the muzzle on her. It was actually pretty scary with her growling & snapping. She worships my son & I can pick her rear end up by her tail, she sleeps with the cat & lets my grandsons sit on her. She sure was a different dog.
she's fine now, no more seizures & takes 2 phenobarbital tablets a day. A very docile dog but that episode was a real shocker!

The spontaneous pics are the best. That one I was talking about was taken on our way into Six Flags. This child makes every picture taking event a challenge. We actually had to pay him to get him to take family photos for the grandparents, you can see the money in his hand.

Well, the best part is if her DH messes with her - she can call the MPs... hahahahaha

i like the screen name, but dont see it coming in the near future, lol!

always have a little bit of honey close by incase your dog goes into another seizure. most time the phenobarbital keeps the seizures under control, but there are some cases where there levels can change. when we have dogs coming in with seizures i always get in there cage and hold them until it pass's, it seems to calm them some they go by quicker.

i think this might be a tie for both. on the pics today they did a full body shot and not just heads. you know so my face would be so close up  . there not to bad, except cameron was in a bad mood so his face looks pissed off and parker was being all military except for his hand in his pocket. got to love when kids be thereselves.

well, lassie's surgery when fine and he got to go home yesterday. when i went to work yesterday i climbed in her cage with her and told her i was sorry for dropping her if she was sorry for bitting me. lol. she wouldnt look at me and i dont know if its because she felt bad or if she was afraid i was going to hurt her again.

so just to update on "the nose", god i cant believe i just called myself that, the swelling is going down. the antibiotic i have to take is the size of a quarter and if i dont take it with a meal then i will get violently ill. it hurts when i sneeze, yawn, or laugh. i alwasy feel like i have to blow my nose, and i pulled a huge chunk of dried up blood out last night and it started to bleed.

Only shows you're human, K.
I have a Webster's dictionary in my desk drawer for writing reports. If you don't think I use it when posting on the web I've got a nice bridge to sell you! I consider myself an above average speller but every now & then I get a brain fart or have a senior moment. Like about 5 times an hour.

the only trouble with dictionaries is you have to know what the 1st letter of the word in question is!
