Child dependent question

My son finally got his daughter added on to receive dependent pay. Does this mean that her mother will not be able to claim her on her income tax? She was asking me and I didn't know and he doesn't know. If anyone out there has experience in this please let me know.

All that it means when he adds her to his stuff, is that he has gotten her covered for medical, nothing more than that, Which ever parent wants to claim the child can, but only one of them if there not married....
