my NG recruiter talked about how it was very easy to cross train into different MOS's (68W to 11B). What i would like to know is: 1) is it easy to cross train, and 2) do the two MOS's have to be related, or can I go from an admin position to 11B?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I don't know how easy it would be. I'm sure you'd have to go to Infantry School at Benning. The only instance I know of a soldier being able reclass to 11B without the school is the squad leader who's replacing my son in the 3rd Ranger Batt. He was a 13F, the unit's artillery FO. He had been to Ranger School & wears the Ranger tab so that was deemed 11B qualified. Now my son has to train him to lead Infantry Rangers.

Another question would be which is more critical to the Army, 68W or 11B? Needs of the Army comes first.

Whether or not it is easy depends on your state and your unit. A recruiter will tell you it's easy to change your MOS. Best advice I can give you is to ignore what the recruiter says about changing your MOS later and choose the one you want the most right now. This will save you heartache in the future.
