To Our Troops.

I would like to express gratitude for all you do and have done for the ghreat USA but.....,

What can you say to someone who is one of the most essential parts of our world? Someone who risks his/her life so others can live theirs? Someone with bravery, dignity, and unconditional love and respect for our wonderful country.

What do you say to someone who stands by to help a dying land, providing love, strength, and support that will, one day, rebuild the hopes and homes of a people which once hated us? How can words ever be enough?

What can you say to let him/her know that he/she is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be? How can you explain to a soldier or any service person how much they are loved and admired by their countrymen?

How can you let our troops know that they are the backbone of this country and you hope the American people have inherited some of their wisdom and strength? What words would you say if you ever got the chance? Maybe you would just say, "America loves you, Soldier/Service Person,” and hopes he/she understands.

Or, simply say,
"Thank You and God bless and keep you in all your ways."

Hello all, my name is Darlene and I’m from Atlanta Georgia. I was watching the news and wanted to do something for the troops. To each individual soldier or service person that reads this message, I stand tall and salute you. Keep ya heads up don't give up. You are doing a fine job protecting and fighting for our country. I cannot tell you men and women how proud the American people are to have such outstanding service man and women. Mere words cannot express the debt we owe to you, our troops, since I am a poet I felt a need to write and display some of my poetry and a couple of other inspiring poems.

I hope these poems will inspire, uplift, and enlighten all who reads them. My poems have been copyrighted but you may share them if you like. The others came from the net. If you would like to know what inspires me or would like to just chat, feel free to email me with comments or complaints. I will do my best to respond to any and all messages.

Don’t Cry For Me

Do not stand at my grave and cry
My spirit soars beyond the sky
Only the dust of my body lies in this grave
For my beloved country, my life I gave

Just close your eyes and I am there
I am a soft breeze that floats in the air
I am the glowing, summer sunlight
I am the stars that shine at night

Don’t weep for me, let no tears be shed
I’m here with you I am not dead
Dry your eyes even though it’s hard
I am the warmth inside your heart

I am spring rains and flowers in July
I’m with you so there’s no need to cry
I am the silent beauty in all you see
I’ll visit your dreams with fond memories

Don’t wail and whimper, sob and whine
Know that it was just my time
God decided my work on earth was done
So he called me to my heavenly home

I fought for those who could not fight
For freedom is not free
I stood ever vigilant, brave, and tall
So please, don’t cry for me

Let not your heart be troubled
I’m at peace and in better place
No more sickness, no war, no worries or pain
Basking in the glory of God’s omnipotent grace

Celebrate with joy the short time I had
Wipe away your tears and please don’t be sad
Don’t stand over my grave and moan and weep
I have not left you, I am only asleep

She Goes Both Ways

My ten-year-old son Brandon and I
was sitting on our couch
talking about the upcoming school year.

We discussed classes, clothes, and new textbooks
as we got on the subject of teachers
he gave me a funny look.

Brandon’s face lit up in joy as he proclaimed,
“I hope I have Mrs. Connor this year
because she goes both ways.”

Shocked by his remark I tried to hide my true feelings.
I repositioned myself on the couch
not sure of what I was dealing.
“What do you mean by that?” I asked?
Afraid of what the answer might be.
Noticing the confused look on my face
Brandon laughed at me.

“You know what I mean mom,” he goes on to say.
“Sometimes she’s mean and
sometimes she’s nice.”
“Like I said, she goes both ways.”

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Robert Frost

Myself

I have to live with myself, and so,
I want to be fit for myself to know;
I want to be able as days go by,
Always to look myself straight in the eye;
I don't want to stand with the setting sun
And hate myself for the things I've done.
I don't want to keep on a closet shelf
A lot of secrets about myself,

And fool myself as I come and go
Into thinking that nobody else will know
The kind of man I really am;
I don't want to dress myself up in sham.
I want to deserve all men's respect;
But here in this struggle for fame and pelf,
I want to be able to like myself.
I don't want to think as I come and go

That I'm for bluster and bluff and empty show.
I never can hide myself from me,
I see what others may never see,
I know what others may never know,
I never can fool myself -- and so,
Whatever happens, I want to be
Self-respecting and conscience free.
