Yeah, when your active duty contract is up.

Yeah, when your active duty contract is up.Yep & then it will probably be a requirement to join a Reserve Component unless you're allowed to be a non-drilling Reservist in the IRR which is a good way to get deployed as an individual rather than going when your unit gets activated.

No one is required to join a Reserve component after their intial contract service is up. Be it 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years or 6. Once one ETS' from active duty, they automatically go on IRR. Joining the Reserve or National Guard is up to them.

Now I am curious. I am currently in the active army and trying to transfer to the national guard. The recruiter that I have been talking to has told me that I just need a approved DD Form 368. Is that correct or am i getting brought in to wild goose chase?
