another thing i need help understanding is this..im 15 and im in my sophmore year..i turn 16 in june and im planning on taking the ASVAB test next year during my junior year( during the first semester) if i do good on the test and every thing and i have my job picked out..would i be able to go to Basic training my junior year summer even though ill be turning 17 june 7th? and then proceed to go to AIT senior summer right after i turn 18? what are the usual deadlines of signing up for basic meaning you have to be this old by this date or you cant go? thanks for all the help.

First you have do decide if you want active duty, or the reserves. If you go reserves, you can go to basic in the summer between your jr and sr year. One thing to consider is that the reserves are suposed to be "combat support", meaning no actual combat troop, like infantry or artillery. If you want to be an officer, you need you college degree. Army ROTC can even give you a scholarship, privided you meet the requirements. Send off for some ROTC info. If you go officer route, you will get to make a "request" of which field you get into. they are trying to be accomadating, but not everyone gets what they want. Also, if your an officer, it's not your job to fire the cannon, shoot the rifle, or be the mechanic. That's the enlisted soldiers job. I have 24 years in as enlisted and I enjoy it. You have some research to do. Good luck.

No offense, SFHiker, but why are you claiming to be an 18Bravo at Ft. Riley? We don't have any SF groups in Kansas. Hit me up with a PM, if you're not just pretending for the sake of a website - then I'm sure I will know you, and I'm positive we will know many of the same people.

Btw, what Q class?
