My sisters husband is now in the researves (sp) stationed in Texas atm. Has been in for 7 years, But wants to join Army full time. He says he will retire in 10 years. I wanted to see if this is true for my sister. My husband (ex Marine) doesn't think this is correct, but doesn't know for sure how the Army work. Any info would be great on this thanks!

I dont understand your question.
But I will explain my limited knowledge of what I know on retirement.
Every year you are in a branch of the Army, you gain retirement points. I think the benefits apply, or kick in, when you hit the 20 year mark.... Sometimes referred to as getting the 20 year letter.
I am currently a Reservist and I too will be going active, but with a different job. I've been in 1 year. In order for me to collect my retirment, I would have to be in for 19 more years. Although once my next contract is up, it will be 15.

Got my answer from a relative retired Captain, From how he explained You do not get a full year if you been in researves for 1 year unless your full time researves which he was not. He is planning to go full time Res. He will not get to count the full 7yrs he been part time res. (guess you call it) Since it was only 2 weeks a year thing. He can however count that time toward his retirement. That is if he can retire (dont know if changed) From what he said Full time res. is only by need basis. So they can dump you when they want. Some of this may have changed he stated but not fully sure.
Anyways thanks for trying GL to you :)
