My husband is considering enlisting in the Army. He is 28, and we have an eight year old daughter. Can anyone tell me what the pay will be and when does it start. We are trying to figure out if I can hold down the house while he is gone. Will he get paid while in boot camp? And will he get any allowaces while in boot camp. (like housing) Thanks for any input.

Pay depends on what rank he will go in as. He will get paid while at Basic Training... and yes he will get housing allowance.

Pay is dependent on the rank that he goes in as...it'll be between $1245 and $1758 a month (that's E1-E4 pay). Remember that they take taxes out of that. He will get BAH and that rate is dependent on your location and rank. He will also receive $250 family separation pay for every 30 days he is away from you guys.

Yes, he gets paid starting the day he ships out to basic training. You won't actually receive it for 4-6 weeks. It's one of those you have to work to get paid situations, lol. Depending on when he reports to training will depend on when he gets his first pay period. We get paid on the 1st and 15th of each month.

Can anyone explain to me the chain of events from boot camp to actually being stationed?? I know boot camp is 13 weeks but what happens after that and how long is it? I feel like we are getting ready to take this step into the unknown and it scares the crap out of me!!

Basic Training is 9 weeks and his advanced invdividual training (MOS qualification) is based on his job..each MOS is a different length of time. Once he finished with his schooling he'll report to his permanent duty station where he can then move you to be with him.
